MENTOR OVERVIEW

Starting in 2017 and running annually since, MentorMe is designed to establish links between experienced professionals within the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and JCI Eastern members who are seeking opportunities for their own professional development. The project aims to match Mentors and Mentees, who can enlighten each other. JCI Eastern hopes to create a sustainable program that allows today’s leaders and tomorrow’s leaders to teach each other and grow the knowledge economy of the Eastern suburbs through a supportive and sensible program.

Mentors will be paired with a Mentee for the program, which will run over approximately 18 weeks.

Process

The program features 6 steps:

  1. Attend the Mentor Preparation Induction and Meet & Greet

  2. Plan and participate in a minimum of 2 x 1 hour sessions with your Mentee before the midway event. The times and dates for these sessions will be arranged directly with your Mentee

  3. Attend the Mid-Way Focus Group session

  4. Complete the remainder of your mentoring sessions with your Mentee

  5. Attend the Closing Event

  6. Evaluate your engagement with the program

Training

While the Mentees participate in their induction at the kick-off event, you will be provided with professional training that will cover what mentoring is, the mentoring process, who is responsible for what in the mentoring relationship, conversations to avoid, and additional resources that you can access.

COST

There is no cost for Mentors to be involved. The Mentees will be charged a fee to cover the costs of running the program. We hope that this fee encourages participants to commit to the program.
